Deliciously zesty and super-moisturizing, our new Dragon Fruit Lip Butter will help give you lips that are super soft and smoochable. And with 100% profits going to charity, you can enjoy a warm feeling inside as well as luscious lips.
HOW’D WE DO?
Last fall, we asked you to “Vote With Your Lips” to raise money for animal welfare, human rights and environmental charities by purchasing a Dragon Fruit Lip Butter. So how’d we do? Together we raised over $39,000 for 3 U.S. charities including: Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS), The Center for Great Apes and the Turtle Island Restoration Network. So…Thank You!
GIRLS EDUCATIONAL & MENTORING SERVICES
‘girls are not for sale’
Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) has grown to a nationally recognized and acclaimed organization and now is one of the largest providers of services to commercially sexually exploited and domestically trafficked youth in the US. GEMS advocates at the local, state, and national level to promote policies that support commercially sexually exploited and domestically trafficked youth. Find out more http://www.gems-girls.org/
Receiving the majority of your votes (48,585 to be precise), GEMS received the largest portion of the funds raised. The donation will support GEMS’ mission to empower girls and young women who have been sexually exploited and domestically trafficked to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential.
This member came to GEMS in 2009. A survivor of commercial sexual exploitation, she had dropped out of high school and was told that she had to choose between the trafficker she believed to be her boyfriend and getting her diploma. Years later, she earned her high school diploma and then, with the help of GEMS’ Educational Initiative program, enrolled in college. In spring 2012, she became the first participant in GEMS’ Educational Initiative program to obtain her Bachelor’s degree. Today, she is a full-time staff member, doing incredible direct-service work with GEMS members, providing crisis response, and conducting formal intake for new members.
“[ . . .] Regardless of my past I am determined to move forward in my future because it has made me who I am today: a strong, independent, hardworking graduate of 2012!”
– GEMS alumni staff member, Ericka
